Intellectual property rights are critical and intangible assets for a company. In order to enhance competitiveness, we encourage the employees to stay innovative, continuously generate high-quality patents, keep protecting our business secrets and R&D results at the same time. In addition, we create sustainable advantages and values for the Company by establishing and implementing patent management system to protect the product design and patent monetization. The Legal Department under the President Office is the assigned and responsible unit for patent application and maintenance process.
Before filing patent applications, the Legal Department and the external patent consultants would conduct patent search to minimize the infringement risk and protect our intellectual properties. Internal patent proposal and external patent evaluation are submitted through the Ability e-patent platform. Professional consultants from external patent firms will review and submit the patent applications for different countries. Patent bonuses are also provided according to internal patent management measures to encourage the employees. After patents are approved and granted, the legal department collects fee details through the e-patent platform, conducts regular inventory checks, and re-evaluates patents to control costs.
