Occupational Safety and Health
Ability introduced ISO45001 occupational safety and health management system. Third-party institutions are used every year to conduct external review for certificates. Preventive acitivities such as accident prevention, employee safety and health improvement, emergency management, emerging pandemic prevention, solutions, and disaster risk management are performed regularly to continuously improve the safety and health management system.
Safe Working Environment
In order to improve employees' correct understanding of safety and health-related knowledge, relevant training courses are organized. The training frequency, course content, and course hours are handled in accordance with regulatory requirements. Self-defense firefighting teams and fire escape drill training are regularly held every six months, so that in the event of an emergency, team members can be quickly mobilized, take the correct actions, and effectively control the disaster and reduce losses. For workers who are not employees, we provide safety and health education and training through pre-employment hazard notifications, work safety analyses and safety reminders. We also provide safety supervision during operations and irregularly provide safety and health concepts and knowledge to make them pay more attention to occupational safety and health.
In addition, the company creates a healthy and safe workplace for employees, formulates various standard operating procedures to prevent occupational injuries and diseases, and conducts monitoring of the operating environment more than once a year. Since its establishment, the company has not had any occupational injury or disease cases. We are committed to continuously providing a safe working environment for all workers, with the goal of zero occupational disasters and zero occupational diseases.
Occupational Health Services
(I) Health inspection
A comprehensive health examination can detect possible diseases at an early stage. Our company arranges for employees to receive health examinations that exceed legal requirements every year, and arranges for employees in special positions (such as those exposed to ionizing radiation, n-hexane, methanol, toluene, tin compounds, noise, etc., depending on the working task of each factory) to receive health examinations for specific items. At the same time, we provide employees with advanced health check-up plans, with comprehensive check-up items to help employees understand their own health conditions and manage their health well.
After completing the health check-up, professional medical staff will provide medical assistance and check-up reminders for major abnormalities found in the health check-up results, to implement caring services. Provide professional consultation for people with abnormal health, arrange on-site doctor services regularly, and provide professional consultation channels for colleagues. Formulate management plans for personal health education and consultation, risk prevention monitoring, and medical assistance. The personal health service records and information of all employees are only used as a basis for assessing whether employees are in a safe workplace environment and are not used for any other purpose. The data is only kept by the dedicated health management unit and will not be leaked. Starting in 2023, the Taiwan site will increase the amount of regular health checks for employees and adjust the health check items based on the common health problems, adjust the health check items, and in 2023, 309 employees were required to take the health check, and 303 employees took the health check, with a compliance rate of 98%. In addition, the budget for the once-every-two-years high-level health check program was also increased. 169 employees were eligible for the program, and 166 employees completed the health check, with a completion rate of 98.2%.
(II) On-site service by occupational physicians
Ability values the physical and mental health of its employees and has formulated the “Four Major Labor Health Protection Plans” in accordance with the law. Occupational physicians are arranged to provide on-site services every two months. From time to time, occupational safety and health personnel, unit supervisors, occupational health and safety personnel and other relevant personnel will inspect the work site environment and assess risks to prevent the occurrence of work-related musculoskeletal injuries and occurrence. They will also provide health education and consultation to employees at high health risk based on the employee health questionnaire to prevent problems such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases caused by overwork. Job protection is also provided for female employees during pregnancy preparation, pregnancy, and one year after childbirth to prevent harm to the body or child during pregnancy and breastfeeding after childbirth. In addition, employees returning to work after personal injury or illness are given a return-to-work assessment to ensure their safety in the workplace and at work.
